Weekly Update on Covid-19 - April 2022 By Syamikha Putri S, Year 5, Sekolah Cikal

Coronavirus disease or COVID-19 is a contagious disease that comes from SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people who contacted with the virus will be having respiratory illness and able to recover by itself. But, some people can suffer from seriously ill and needs to be medicated.

For elderly and those who have disease like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more easily infected by the virus. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.

After the observation during the first half of March 2022, the number of new COVID-19 has declined for two weeks, with a 16% downturn during the week of 28 March through 3 April 2022 as compared to the week before. The number of new weekly deaths also reduced (-43%) as far as compared to the week before. As of 3 April 2022, just over 489 million cases and over 6 million deaths have been reported globally. Among the six WHO regions, nine million new cases and over 26 000 new deaths were recorded, and all the places show decreasing trends both in the number of new weekly cases and new weekly deaths.

Coronavirus disease or COVID-19 is a contagious disease that comes from the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In Indonesia, data from the COVID-19 handling task force as of April 5, 2022, shows the addition of 2,282 new cases. Meanwhile, 7,241 people were declared cured. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 increased to 155,421. So, basically, the covid-19 cases in Indonesia have decreased from time to time.
